We work with the SpamAssassin engine to provide arrays of extended filters beyond the standard configuration files and many of our SpamAssassin diagnoses are given on our example spam email pages where you will see how they pick up emails which pass through normal configurations. We do not use automatic Heuristic filtering. Our content filtering configurations result from 5 years of development applying approaches developed from nuclear physics.

We presume that the first sample email below is sent only for the reason that emails of this type are designed to pass through Heuristic or other standard systems. Our APPLES and ORANGES filters work as a lorry load of fruit tipped over a road to block the traffic behind in a car chase. The formulation of our filters is rather like the wartime work at Bletchley Park. We are constantly considering what the inside of the opposing Enigma machine looks like and what cog-wheels are grinding away unseen . . . We have a PHAZOR which safely blasts the spam-score through the roof, as you'll see on the examples of good spams below . . .

Here some sample spam emails of types of spam that we regularly intercept . . . Some of the worst spammers are really amusing: jobssearch.co.uk has been hammering our clients with full blown spam techniques including multiple sources (presumably virus infected zombie computers or what are advertised as "Bullet Proof" bulk email solutions) with mutating email addresses and hidden words in transparent text. They send as from ref_3792mutating@jobssearch.co.uk and to cap it all they innclude the word "idiot" in the Subject title:

The Avangar page describes a process that looks remarkably similar to the Money Laundering jobs described in emails that we catch every day: From the website -

1. Our customer (located in your area) informs us about his wish to buy specified products or services..
2. We supply our client with your contact details and he transfers funds directly to you (cheque sent to postal address specified by you or via bank transfer to your bank account). You inform us the moment the funds arrive.
3. We immediately give an order to ship products to the customer. In most cases this will allow us to ship client's order on the same or next business day.
4. You then transfer the client’s funds to our bank account (or follow other transferring methods as will be stated in your instructions).

The website referred to appears to have been created only a few days before the sending of the emails.

Another form of spam is sent by people who think that they have every right to build their internet resources by soliciting the clients of other sites, offering free or cut price advertising to them. Some people think that:

" Businesses ought to be able to send unsolicited e-mail to people even if they are unsure if they have a pre-existing business relationship with them. " The people who solicit business from the clients of other sites know perfectly well that they have no pre-existing business relationship with the recipients. Some site-newbies send just one or two emails and are quoted on our "named" page having been unable to read the clear terms of use of antespam protected email addresses referred to on pages but others send hundreds of spams, examples of spam hammering below. Some spammers are so desperate to get their spam through that they insert accents to try to disguise what they think might be caught in spam filters and insert rubbish about Anti Virus sweeping in the commonly held but mistaken belief that such content evades proper spam filters. Sending spam simply does not work:

All businesses should consider really whether they should hire a spammer before spamming. Many UK companies go to spammers in the Far East thinking that this puts them outside the European regulations concerning spam. This means that servers in far-eastern contries, in particular Korea and China, are blocked by western firewalls in order to stop their spam overloading systems, and the populations of China in particular think that it's their government who is censoring them. If governments of those countries want to clean up their image, closing down the spamming industries in their domains would be a good start.

www.rentalsworldwide.net targeted clients of Latroba.co.uk on 9th November with over 160 spam emails soliciting business. They used a technique calculated to crash servers akin to a DOS attack. The emails were sent from Cyprus from icx.net (adsl-170-189.cytanet.com.cy [213.149.170.189]). We wrote to the sender drawing his attention to the clearly stated terms of use of the email addresses used. The response was another 145 spam emails sent on 11th November 2005:
